Have you always wanted to know whether professors prefer to drink tea or coffee? Or have you often wondered what topics scientists are currently discussing? Then the "All Day Research" podcast is made for you!

Every month, host Lukas Ostermann, head of the Computer Science Student Council, talks to various guests about exciting and current topics. "We have a lot of interesting personalities at our university with the most diverse backgrounds. I think it's great that this podcast gives us the opportunity to get to know them better and to benefit from their expertise. Enthusiasm for scientific topics in particular rubs off even more in personal conversations than by reading papers," says Lukas Ostermann about his motivation to participate in the project.

The podcast was produced in cooperation with the Institute of Computer Science and the Computer Science Student Council. The aim is to give more insights into science and thus bring students - especially those in their first semester - closer to their studies, to arouse interest and to show how much fun research and studying computer science at the University of Paderborn can be.

In addition to knowledge and entertainment, the "All Day Research" podcast provides a varied mix of everyday and science-related information technology topics that can be successfully discussed at any party.

In the first episode, we welcome our institute director himself. Prof. Dr. Holger Karl is the first guest in the series and talks to Lukas Ostermann about 5G. When asked how it comes about that a new standard appears on the market just about every ten years, Mr Karl says: "5G is actually a marketing term. When people talk about 5G today, they actually mean Release 16. You have to admit that the term 5G is marketing-driven in many places and wants to be "hip"."

There is also room for personal stories in this podcast. For example, Mr Karl tells in a very entertaining way how his studies abroad at the time shaped him and ultimately inspired him to develop his very own and personal teaching style as a scientist.

Interest aroused? Then listen now to the first episode of the "All Day Research" podcast. You can find it wherever podcasts are available or here on the Institute's website. In future, a new episode will be published every first Tuesday of the month.
