In May 2019 Jarren Lange joined the LEA department on a DAAD-scholarship. Jarren Lange has been pursuing a PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa with a focus on ad-hoc renewable energy power systems. His work on alternative power systems aims to address the lack of electrical energy in Africa while aligning with global renewable energy goals. His work in the department will revisit the means of black starting an electrical power system, which has largely remained the same for the last 140 years.
