Weierstraß-Prize for excellent teaching 2010
Prof. Dr. Michael Dellnitz receives the Weierstraß-Prize, in recognition of his excellent lectures “Numerische Mathematik II” and “Computational Dynamics”. The ratings of the students cannot just be summarised in, “the statements are interesting”, “well structured, as well as competent and, for the students, very catchy style of presentation”. He also received excellent evaluations on his innovative character, the distinct research focus and the simultaneously high practise relevance in his lectures, proven in specific examples. The lecturer´s infectious motivation is particularly highly valued. Likewise, his enjoyment for the subject, which also spread on to his students and created fascination, was also highlighted. A quote from the studen's evaluation says it most clearly: “ This is Dellnitz. There is no need to write more”.
Dipl.-Ing. Jens Rautenberg receives the Weierstraß-Prize in recognition of his excellent teaching activity as a group leader in the courses of industrial measurement engineering. The quote “ Preparation and motivation of the group leader are exemplary”, from the students’ evaluation, clearly shows why.
His innovative character and practical relevance of his lively and varied tutorials are especially highlighted. Newly developed illustrative objects, measurements and practical examples, as well as exercise portions, which are developed by the students and therefore support their understanding, account for the tutorials of Jens Rautenberg. Always committed and “ always friendly with a smile on his lips, he takes the time for his students even outside of his course. Their conclusion: “Jens is great.”
